TIA (ṭiẏā) PAKHI (pakhī/pakṣī) : Bengali term for a species of parrot , the popinjay , the parakeet. Common in Kolkata is the 'Rose-ringed Parakeet', known for it's vivid green feathers and blood red beak. Images taken by Bobby Mukherjee in Kolkata, India in the 1960s as 18mm colour transparencies.
